Dentures Dentist Vancouver

Dentures are artificial replacements for your natural teeth and gums. There are two kinds: partial and full. Both partial and full require a model of your teeth by taking impressions.

  • Prevent facial muscles from sagging, which can make a person appear older
  • Allow you to be able to eat and speak
  • Maintains your smile

What types of dentures are available?
There are partial dentures that are designed to correct the gaps in a smile and when only some of your teeth are missing. Complete dentures are full replacements for all your teeth.

Will I need to alter my eating habits?
There are few eating restrictions for denture wearers. However if you experience any eating difficulties, it is important to get in touch with your dentist. Dentures that do not fit well can contribute to eating problems.

How long will my dentures last?
Dentures are extremely durable, but not indestructible. With good care, they should last for many years. However, you should return to your dentist at least once a year to assess the fit and appearance of your dentures.

Partial Dentures: used when nearby teeth are not strong enough to hold a bridge, or when more than a few teeth are missing. It is a removable replacement that can be made with a plastic or metal framework that will support the number of teeth which need to be replaced.

Full Dentures: also known as “false teeth”. Full dentures are implemented when all your natural teeth are missing. These ones are completely removable and are head in place by suction.

Denture Relines: part of denture care. They need to be adjusted every few years for proper fit to avoid discomfort or difficulty chewing.

Denture Repairs: used to restore a fractured or damaged denture to its original condition.
