About Us

Dr. Bayan Mottahed is a general dentist at Mercato Dental Centre. He graduated from Boston University in 2007.

Dr. Mottahed enjoys using technology to enhance dental procedures and loves helping patients achieve their desired smiles. He is a member of the BC Dental Association (BCDA) and the Canadian Dental Association (CDA).

Outside of his practice, Dr. Mottahed is kept busy by his four young boys. He enjoys baking and supporting the Whitecaps and Canucks. He also supports charities such as the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) and Vancouver General Hospital (VGH).

As a dentist, Dr. Mottahed finds great satisfaction in making a positive impact on his patients’ lives by combining advanced technology with the wisdom passed down from his father. He is dedicated to balancing his career with family life, spending cherished moments outdoors with his wife and children. Dr. Mottahed instills in his boys the values of love, care, and community involvement.

Dr. Mottahed is also engaged with multi-faith and multi-cultural organizations and has recently focused on providing dental care to remote First Nations communities in British Columbia. Collaborating with charitable initiatives, he often reaches these underserved populations via helicopter and uses portable equipment to deliver essential dental services.

Dr. Steve Shahram Mottahed, known as Dr. M, has been practicing dentistry in Vancouver since the 90s. He operates out of Mercato Dental Centre in Vancouver’s Little Italy.

Dr. M graduated from the University of Manchester in England. After serving one year as a dental house officer, he entered general dental practice. He has advanced training that led to a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Diploma in Orthodontics.

Specializing in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, particularly crowns and bridges, Dr. M has saved countless teeth and restored many smiles alongside his son. He values his relationships with patients, finding joy in calming the anxious and restoring smiles.

Currently, Dr. M is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the BC College of Oral Health Providers and the BC Dental Association, and he founded the Vancouver Iranian Dental Association.

Outside of work, Dr. M enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, creating videos, and making jigsaw puzzles. He is active in multi-faith and multi-cultural organizations, using his audio and video skills to educate others.

Dr. Rezaie received his DDS degree in 1998 and MSc (Endodontics) in 2003. Prior to moving to Vancouver, he had been practicing as an Endodontist for more than 5 years. In 2010, he graduated from the University of British Columbia Dental School and in 2013 successfully completed the Specialty Assessment Program from the University of Toronto to become a Certified Specialist in Canada. His hobbies are soccer and skiing.

Dr. Yeji (Marina) Chang is a general dentist at Mercato Dental Center. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 2016.

Dr. Chang enjoys the diversity of dental practice. She is a member of the BC Dental Association (BCDA) and the Canadian Dental Association (CDA). She is Invisalign Fundamentals Certified at the beginner level.

Outside of work, Dr. Chang enjoys traveling and cooking. She supports charities such as World Vision and Ipoderac. Originally from South Korea, Dr. Chang moved to Toronto in 1997 and recently relocated to Vancouver with her husband and daughter to enjoy better weather and nature.

Dr. Calvin Tang is a general dentist at Mercato Dental Centre. He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto in 2018.

Dr. Tang finds joy in providing dental services that meet patients’ needs, from pain relief to long-term solutions, using current scientific evidence and personalized care. He is a member of the British Columbia Dental Association and the British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals, and he is a certified Invisalign provider.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Tang enjoys trying new foods, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors. He supports several charities, including the Canadian Red Cross, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the SickKids Foundation, and the Canadian Cancer Society.

His own experience with dental anxiety as a child, managed by compassionate dentists during his orthodontic treatment, inspired him to offer the same patience and care to his patients today.

Dr. Andrew Gee, born and raised in East Vancouver, discovered his passion for dentistry while volunteering at a local non-profit community dental clinic during his undergraduate studies. After graduating with distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology, Dr. Gee’s commitment to helping others led him to pursue the Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of British Columbia. His journey continued at UBC’s dental school, where he excelled and developed a keen interest in surgical and cosmetic dentistry. His dedication and skill were recognized through numerous awards and scholarships in restorative, prosthodontic, periodontic, and preventative dentistry.

Committed to providing exceptional dental care, Dr. Gee believes in delivering effective and efficient treatments tailored to each patient’s unique needs and continues to advance his skill through ongoing education. He is dedicated to creating a comforting and caring environment, ensuring every patient feels safe and valued. When he’s not practicing dentistry, Dr. Gee enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, honing his culinary skills, and has recently taken up playing pickleball.

Aman joined our dental team in 2009. She has been in the dental field for over 20 years, first as a CDA and then as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Her dental philosophy is to empower her patients with knowledge that would enable them to take care of their own oral health and general well-being.

Josieanne has been a dental hygienist for more than 10 years and is enjoying every minute of it. When not enjoying she enjoys cooking and spending time with her kids.

Maria truly loves her work in dentistry and has a heart for every patient that she treats. When she’s not at work, she enjoys trying new restaurants and exploring British Columbia’s hidden hiking spots.

Amrinder Kambo is a dedicated registered dental hygienist based in Canada with a rich background in dentistry. With nine years of experience as a dentist in India, Amrinder now focuses on providing exceptional care to elderly patients and children as a dental hygienist. Alongside a fulfilling dental career, Amrinder is a passionate musician and professional singer, specializing in Indian classical music. His music is featured in several albums available on his YouTube channel, reflecting his deep commitment to both his craft and his heritage.

With 5 years of experience in dentistry, Ambar began as a CDA and then advanced to a Dental hygienist role. Committed to exceptional patient care and professionalism, Ambar’s goal is to ensure every patient leaves the dental clinic not only satisfied and healthy but also equipped with the knowledge to enhance and maintain their oral health. Outside of the office, Ambar loves spending time with family and friends and exploring new adventures around the globe.

Darius has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Studies with Specialization in Computer Technology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from De la Salle University. He is a national and international taekwondo champion, a pilot, a painter, a teacher and most recently, an author. When he is not at work, he enjoys playing the piano and cello, painting and jamming with his musical family.
